Hazardous weather outlookIssued 10/29/2026, 2:21 AM EDT
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for east central Indiana, southeast Indiana, northeast Kentucky, northern Kentucky, central Ohio, south central Ohio, southwest Ohio and west central Ohio.
Day one
Today and tonight.
No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
Days two through seven
Friday through Wednesday.
The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.
1) A weak cold front will drop southeast across the area tonight, bringing cooler, yet still above average temperatures as we head into the weekend.
2) A series of upper level disturbances will result in occasional rain chances through the first half of next week.
Discussion
KEY MESSAGE 1) Tonight's cold front has limited moisture to work with and will generally put a spit of rain in west central Ohio late this evening as it crosses.
Any shower activity will dissipate as the front pushes southeast overnight and we lose any diurnal instability.
Weak low level CAA behind the front will lead to a slight cool down with highs on Friday ranging from the mid-upper 60s north to the lower 70s in the south. Highs on Saturday will range from about 65 to 70 degrees.
KEY MESSAGE 2) There remains a high level of uncertainty with the strength of mid level energy moving into the Ohio Valley through the second half of the weekend and how much moisture will accompany it. The Euro and Canadian continue to put this mid level s/w energy with a dry forecast. The GFS is still putting out a fairly wide area of rain, though it is showing much lower values and trending drier. As a result, will keep some chances for pcpn Sunday into Sunday night, but confidence is not very high.
Models continue to show a more dynamic system approaching from the west for the middle of next week, but there remains a fair amount of spread on the timing of this system, though the strength of it looks to be enough to bring us back to normal fall weather for late next week. Will continue to broad brush chance pops through much of the extended period, with temperatures remaining several degrees above normal ahead of the next system through mid week.
Aviation
A cold front across northern Ohio will move through the sites tonight and bring occasional low-end VFR ceilings until frontal passage, around 09Z. Winds will veer northwest and then north by daybreak, and increase to 8-10kt by the morning.
Light showers will be possible at the beginning of the period, mainly north of I-70. As the front moves through drier and more stable air, most areas and the terminals will remain dry.
OUTLOOK: MVFR ceilings and visibility possible Sunday.
