Key messages

Updated at 141 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026

- Areas of fog and mist under light and variable winds this morning. Patchy fog and mist for parts of the plains and valleys on Halloween night.

- Drier weather with seasonal temperatures the next seven days.

Short term

(Today through Sunday afternoon) Issued at 141 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026

Current observations show abundant low clouds across much of the area this morning. This is fortunate as it may be preventing dense fog from forming. Will continue to monitor for dense fog but it appears that visibilities will generally be around 3-5 miles or unrestricted. The end of precipitation and a resumption of southerly flow and warm air advection sends highs back up to normal this weekend.

Long term

(Sunday night through Friday) Issued at 141 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026

An upper trough moves across the western United States and into the central Plains on Monday. Skies clear out and southerly winds increase ahead of the trough taking highs above normal to the upper 70s and 80s. The trough brings a modified airmass and weak cold front through the CWA Monday night bringing temperatures back down to near normal. The remainder of the forecast is dry with temps near normal continuing.

Aviation

(06Z TAFS) Issued at 141 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026

MVFR/IFR CIG/VIS will continue through much of the TAF period. LIFR conditions could develop but cloud cover should prevent this from occuring and so it is not in the TAFs. Some improvement is expected after 18Z but conditions deteriorate again late in the TAF period.
