Key messages

Updated at 624 PM CDT Fri Oct 30 2026

- Drier conditions expected for the weekend before rain chances increase for Tuesday.

- Above normal temperatures through early week before a cold front brings more seasonal temperatures.

- A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect until 7 AM Saturday for the Lower Texas Coast beaches and may need to be extended into Sunday.

Discussion

Issued at 1159 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2026

Dry conditions will return for the Halloween weekend with above normal temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. As we head into Tuesday, a cold front will creep through Deep South Texas bringing with it more seasonal temperatures Wednesday through Friday with highs in the 80s.

Rain chances taper off today with dry conditions returning just in time for trick-or-treating. The aforementioned cold front moving through on Tuesday will bring low chances of rain (15-30%), primarily along the coast. Dry conditions return for Wednesday through the end of the period.

At local beaches, persistent easterly flow and elevated astronomical tides will continue to contribute to elevated water levels and beach erosion through the weekend. There is a Coastal Flood Statement until 7 am Saturday morning, with potential additional extensions.

Aviation

(00Z TAFS) Issued at 624 PM CDT Fri Oct 30 2026

VFR conditions prevail through the period with winds becoming light and variable overnight, generally from the east-southeast. Clear skies and light winds may lead to shallow fog development between 10-15Z, but dew point depressions of 3+ degF preclude mention in TAF. Greatest likelihood would be at HRL (30% or less).

Marine

Issued at 1159 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2026

Generally favorable conditions will prevail with light winds, seas of 2 to 4 ft, and 5 to 7 second periods. Periodic showers and thunderstorms could produce locally adverse winds and seas. A cold front coming through on Tuesday could lead to Small Craft Caution at times Tuesday night into Wednesday.
