Key messages
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
- Trick-or-Treat weather will be a treat! Dry and temperatures in the 70s!
- Our next cold front is expected sometime around Tuesday of next week along with chances for rain and thunderstorms.
- Minor coastal flooding along with a moderate rip current risk will continue through the weekend.
Discussion
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Warm temperatures and dry conditions are expected through Monday. A potent low moving across the southern Great Plains will send a cold front through South Texas around Tuesday, though there is still disagreement on the timing and southern extent of the front. As things currently stand, it looks like rain chances will increase late Monday night into Tuesday, with a medium to high chance for showers and thunderstorms along the Coastal Bend and northern Coastal Plains. The best dynamics continue to remain north of the area, but there could be an occasional strong to severe thunderstorm. We'll continue to monitor the trends.
Will have to continue to monitor the possibility for minor coastal flooding along Gulf facing beaches into the weekend, as well as an increased rip current risk.
Aviation
(06Z TAFS) Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Expecting IFR to LIFR conditions overnight due to fog and low CIGs. Ceilings and VSBYs will likely jump around during the first 6 hours or so of this TAF but will monitor and may make some amendments as necessary. Some improvement is forecast Saturday late morning with VFR conditions slowly returning by afternoon. Northeast to easterly winds will remain light and somewhat variable.
Marine
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Light to moderate (BF 2-4) southeasterly flow will persist through the weekend, with seas generally 3 to 5 feet. Generally dry conditions are expected, though an isolated shower will be possible through today. Rain chances return early next week.
Fire weather
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Low-level moisture and light winds will continue to limit fire weather concerns. Another chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday night/Tuesday ahead of a cold front.
Abundant low-level moisture and winds generally below 20 knots will limit fire weather concerns through the forecast period. Rain chances will diminish over the weekend. Another cold front is expected early next week with drier conditions in its wake.
