Discussion
KEY MESSAGE 1) Southwest flow aloft will translate to a more zonal westerly later tonight, with ridging becoming apparent on Friday, lasting into Saturday as the axis crosses the Ohio Valley.
Above normal temperatures will continue, although in the wake of the front, readings will be not quite as warm. Highs may only be 7 to 10 degrees above normal on Saturday compared to 10 to 15 degrees above normal today and Thursday.
KEY MESSAGE 2) S/w energy moving east on Sunday will bring the next viable chance of rainfall to the region. One fly in the ointment is that the Euro and Canadian models are much weaker with this feature and keep the forecast dry under a building ridge. Even the GFS has this ridge, albeit much less amplified versus the other models showing l/w ridging in place during this time. GFS even by its own mass fields should not support the precip that it's giving for Monday.
Forecast beyond Sunday is muddled with deterministic models showing large divergence. This divergence adds the probability of rainfall to the forecast from Sunday onward.
Aviation
Mid and high clouds will move off to the east early in the period with just a few lingering clouds for the rest of the day. Winds will become south southwest at 10 kt or less and then back and decrease after 00Z.
OUTLOOK: MVFR ceilings and visibilities possible Sunday afternoon.
