Key messages
Updated at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
- Hazardous boating conditions continue for the offshore waters, winds and seas will increase across most of the remainder of the marine zones starting tonight through Monday.
- Rain returns to the forecast this weekend with the highest chances on Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible closer to the coast. Another round of rain is expected to arrive mid to late next week.
Short term
(Today and Tonight) Issued at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Increasing cloud cover and relatively low dew points today will generally lead to low rain chances for most of today. Northeast winds this morning become more easterly this afternoon, allowing for gradually moistening throughout the afternoon and evening. This could allow for a brief window of opportunity for some light showers late in the afternoon/early evening as instability looks to be uncapped for a couple hours. Otherwise, expect it to be a warm and increasingly cloudy day with gusty easterly winds. Daytime highs will generally be in the low to mid 80s with overnight lows generally in the mid to upper 60s.
Long term
(Sunday through Friday) Issued at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
A shortwave moving across the northern Gulf this weekend will allow rain chances to increase heading into Sunday through Monday morning. Given the prevailing northeast to easterly flow across the region, this shortwave looks to induce showers and possibly a couple storms mostly along our coastal areas and offshore, where instability looks to be available. Otherwise, areas inland should expect mostly light to moderate rain showers with an isolated thunderstorm possible. Ridging then prevails across eastern CONUS through midweek before the next trough and associated frontal system looks to approach the region from the west. Rain chances will once again be in the forecast Wednesday through the end of the work week.
Generally expect daytime highs in the mid 70s to low 80s with overnight lows generally in the 60s.
Aviation
(06Z TAFS) Issued at 158 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Mainly VFR conds prevail this TAF cycle with thick cloud cover in the middle and upper levels. The only exception appears to be VLD where some lower stratus may sneak in from the SE later this morning. Higher confidence in MVFR stratus deck spreading from the east towards VLD between 0Z and 6Z tonight. East winds increase 10-12 kts (frequent gusts around 20 kts) today with potential for passing on/off -SHRA this aftn.
Marine
Issued at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Moderate to fresh easterly breezes are expected through this morning with winds near 20 knots for our offshore waters. A surface low will pass over our waters this weekend, increasing winds across most of the near shore waters as well for Saturday night through Monday. As the surface low departs, winds and seas are expected to diminish back to moderate breezes on Tuesday. A wind shift to southerly and southwesterly is forecast by midweek as another frontal system approaches, however significant impacts are not expected at the moment.
Fire weather
Issued at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
The main story for this weekend will be the chance for light rain showers and possible thunder for the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, especially for Sunday. The scattered showers are expected to be quick in forward progression, leading to a low chance for an actual wetting rain. Transport winds will be moderate at around 15-20 mph from the east through Monday. Dispersions will be fair to good during the afternoon hours each day through the period. Winds will return to northeasterly for the start of the work week.
Hydrology
Issued at 334 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Generally around an inch of rainfall is expected across the region over the next week, with isolated higher amounts likely along the coast this weekend as an area of low pressure moves across the eastern Gulf. There are currently no flooding concerns.
