Short term
(This Evening through Saturday) Issued at 314 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
Cloudy skies have been filtering in today as we kept the northeasterly flow this afternoon. Temperatures will still be on the warms side with highs tomorrow in the low to mid 80s and overnight lows in the 60s. Passing light showers are possible for locations closer to the Emerald Coast for Saturday afternoon and evening. Trick-or-Treaters may want to have an umbrella just in case. Throughout the rest of the region, it will be warm and muggy. There may be some relief given that the winds will be around 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
Long term
(Saturday night through next Thursday) Issued at 314 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
Halloween night may be a little spooky with the cloud cover. The winds won't be howling, but there may be a few branches tapping your windows Saturday evening. The winds will die down through the night. Temperatures Saturday night into Sunday morning will be in the mid to upper 60s, well above average for this time of year.
During the day on Sunday, an area of low pressure hugging the Gulf coast will track eastward, bringing rain and slight chance for thunderstorms to the region. The best rain chances will be along the coast up to the I-10 corridor. Areas north of the Florida state line will have about a 40% chance through the day.
Due to the rain and cloud cover, high temperatures for Sunday will be a little cooler in the mid to upper 70s. Winds will be a little more easterly at around 10-15 mph as the surface low passes further east over the peninsula into the Atlantic. The system will clear out during the day on Monday. There will be a lull in the weather as dry air filters in behind the Gulf low, with northeasterly winds prevailing. Temperatures will return to the low/mid 80s for afternoon highs, with overnight lows remaining in the 60s.
We will be transitioning into a more active weather pattern as an upper level trough will approach the region by midweek, with an expectant cold front by Wednesday into Thursday. Upper level winds become southwesterly, increasing moisture ahead of the front. Chances for showers and thunderstorms increase to around 40-60%. It is too soon to determine any further impacts at the moment, but we will provide updates as the system draws nearer.
Aviation
(00Z TAFS) Issued at 705 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
VFR conditions are generally forecast to prevail through much of the TAF period with light to moderate easterly to northeasterly breezes. There is the potential for some MVFR ceilings, especially around KDHN and KVLD, later Saturday morning, but confidence wasn't high enough to include in the TAFs at this time. Additionally, a few hi-res models are indicating an isolated shower or two roaming the area near the end of the TAF period Saturday afternoon into the evening. But confidence wasn't high enough to include in the TAFs at this time.
Marine
Issued at 314 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
Moderate to fresh easterly breezes will develop tonight with Advisory level winds for our offshore waters as the easterly surge builds overnight. A surface low will be passing over our waters this weekend, increasing winds to more consistent Advisory levels early Sunday through Monday. As the surface low departs, winds and seas are expected to diminish back to moderate breezes. A wind shift is forecast by midweek as a frontal system approaches, however significant impacts are not expected at the moment.
Fire weather
Issued at 314 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
The main story for this weekend will be the chance for light rain showers and possible thunder for the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, especially for Sunday. The scattered showers are expected to be quick in forward progression, leading to a low chance for an actual wetting rain. Transport winds will be moderate at around 15-20 mph from the east through Monday. Dispersions will be fair to good during the afternoon hours each day through the period. Winds will return to northeasterly for the start of the work week.
Hydrology
Issued at 314 PM EDT Fri Oct 30 2026
Showers and thunderstorm chances increase for this weekend, and another round is expected by mid next week. The activity should be progressive, keeping rainfall totals on the low end. The WPC did, however, highlight portions of the FL Big Bend in a Marginal (level 1 of 4) Risk for excessive rainfall for Sunday. This is just a precaution. The area has pockets of abnormally dry to moderate drought, so should take the rainfall in stride. There are no flooding concerns for the next several days.
