Key messages
Updated at 550 AM CDT Wed Oct 28 2026
- Warm, sunny days and cool, clear nights will continue through the work week.
- No rain is expected through at least Friday night, but the weather pattern will begin to shift this weekend.
- Drought conditions will continue to worsen in the near-term.
Short term
(Tonight through Friday Night) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Tue Oct 27 2026
I tell you what. We may be crunchy and dry, but you can't ask for any better fall weather than we've seen in the last several days. Afternoon highs in the 70s and crisp wake-up weather in the 40s? It's been amazing -- and we're not done yet. More of the same is expected through Friday. There may be a day or two we reach 80 at BNA, but everybody else will maintain the 70s with light winds and lots of sun.
Long term
(Saturday through next Wednesday) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Tue Oct 27 2026
Of course, anyone reading this is wondering about the weekend rain. It's safe to say, we're gonna get it. The question is when. When I left here last Friday, the GFS already had two days in the books bringing rain in here Saturday evening. 4 days later, that hasn't changed, so there has been some serious consistency with this. In the same vain, the Euro was dry all weekend. As of the 12Z run, it looks like it's finally coming around to the GFS, however just not as early. It's leaning more toward after midnight arrival. The NBM refuses to take a stand one way or the other, so we're gonna be another day or two to work the trick-or-treating news. The good news is forecast soundings aren't looking thundery. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be anything near a drought buster as most, if not all of Middle TN, will register less than 1 inch.
Here's the best news: the arrival of this weekend's rains looks to be a shift in the overall pattern with more rain in the cards next week.
