Short term
(Today through Sunday) Issued at 235 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Thankfully there's nothing spooky about today's forecast. Upper level clouds continue to stream in across the area this morning as ridging dampens as a result of a shortwave moving through the ArkLaTx region. High pressure situated over the Great Lakes Region will extend southward sending a wedge front through North and Central Georgia. This will lend to breezy easterly flow at the surface -- sustained 10-15 mph wind with gusts 20-25 MPH -- and slightly more comfortable temperatures. We've still got a good bit of drier air in the lower levels (below 500mb per the latest FFC sounding) and while a few sprinkles cannot be ruled out we should stay mostly dry for any Halloween Festivities through the evening. The atmosphere will continue to moisten heading into Sunday, with slightly better chances for light rain showers across western GA. Though depending on the strength of the wedge the eastern half of the state may end up staying dry.
Temperatures across much of North GA will be in the low to mid- 70s (60s in the mountains) and upper 70s to low 80s across parts of Central Georgia. We kick of November on a cooler note with daytime temperatures forecast to be in the 60s/70s areawide.
Long term
(Sunday night through Friday) Issued at 235 AM EDT Sat Oct 31 2026
Picking up the forecast Monday morning, a few remnant clearing showers may be in the cards. However, the wedge will remain strong with reinforced flow from the high to the northeast. The next chance for rain comes mid-week. A much more robust trough will clear the rockies, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorm across the CONUS. The main forcing from the system will likely remain well to the north (across the Northern Plains and Great Lakes). This will likely mean the precip mode will be reliant on how much it has to fight against suppressive forcing from the high to the northeast and more broad isentropic lift around and over the wedge. Model spread remains high on timing and cohesiveness of the precip. The unanswered question will be if the cold front remains cohesive or if a broader shield of rain develops.
Temperatures through the period will fairly consistent due to increased moisture. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s with remain mostly in the 50s to around 60.
