Discussion
KEY MESSAGE 1 DESCRIPTION:
Surface high pressure will exit to our south and east tonight ahead of a cold front, which will cross late tonight into early Friday morning. Following a dry and warm evening with mainly sunny skies, clouds will increase tonight with perhaps an isolated shower across the mtns and towards the Canadian Border. It will otherwise be a mild night for late October with lows into the 40s and lower 50s.
Partly cloudy skies will prevail behind the front on Friday, although developing upslope flow will result in mainly cloudy skies across the mtns and points north. High temperatures will range from the 50s across the north with 60s further to the south. West-northwest wind gusts may approach 30 mph during the afternoon, which will make it feel a little cooler. Friday night will be cooler with CAA continuing as overnight lows fall into the 20s and 30s. Cool and dry conditions are expected this weekend with daytime highs on Saturday into the 40s/50s before warming up some on Sunday. Lows will be below freezing in most locations.
Mainly dry conditions are likely to persist through at least the middle of next week with fluctuating temperatures, although it will generally be warmer than avg.
Aviation
Through Friday Night: VFR conditions tonight with SSW flow of 5-10 kts. MRGL LLWS is possible, mainly between 00Z-09Z Friday. W flow will prevail on Friday with gusts up to 25 kts. VFR will persist, although some MVFR CIGS are possible at KHIE.
Outlook:
Saturday-Tuesday: VFR conditions expected.
Marine
SW Wind gusts up to 25-30 kts are expected for the inner coastal waters east of Portland through tonight before becoming W then NW behind a cold front Fri into Fri night with gusts remaining elevated at 25-30 kts across all waters. Seas will be around 2-5 ft, highest outside of the bays. Otherwise, winds and seas will remain below SCA criteria Sat through the middle of next week.
