Discussion
Issued at 130 PM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026
After a week of above normal temperatures, temperatures this afternoon were close to normal for late October with readings in the middle 40s to middle 50s. Regional radars were indicating scattered showers across north-central and central WI westward into southwest and west-central WI.
Low pressure across the central plains will move northeast into Minnesota late tonight, then to western Lake Superior Tuesday afternoon. Weak 850mb and a weak impulse were producing the showers across Wisconsin early this afternoon. The scattered showers will continue for the rest of the afternoon into tonight, with rain chances at 40-80% with the highest across central and north-central WI. The showers should come to an end Tuesday across the north as the system pulls away from the area.
Southerly winds will bring in warmer temps on Tuesday, with some of the warmest temperatures this week on Wednesday where highs should reach the upper 60s to middle 70s. A cold front will bring another round of showers and a few thunderstorms (rain chance 50-80%) Wednesday night. Slightly cooler, but still well above normal temperatures are expected on Thursday. A few showers may linger into the morning hours on Thursday, otherwise high pressure will build into the region. Dry conditions will prevail Thursday night into Friday morning before the next chance of rain arrives Friday afternoon. It appears the upcoming weekend will be unsettled with chances of rain throughout the weekend. It will be mild with readings well into the 50s to lower to middle 60s. It should be noted the normal high for November 1st is around 50 degrees across the area, and will also be the day we set the clocks back one hour as we switch to Central Standard Time.
Aviation
for 00Z TAF Issuance Issued at 717 PM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026
Area of showers, mainly along and north of Hwy 29, continue early this evening, providing little to no impact to ceilings or visibilities. The shower and sprinkle activity will continue into early Tuesday, with MVFR and some IFR ceilings spreading into central and northern WI tonight. The lower ceilings will continue on Tuesday for most/all of the day at RHI, with some improvement in central WI in the afternoon. A period of MVFR ceilings is also possible in the Fox Valley overnight, but VFR conditions are expected for most/all of the TAF period.
Northeast winds will shift to the east this evening then to the southeast on Tuesday, with some gusts to 20 kts expected at times, especially on Tuesday.
