Key messages
- Areas of light rain and fog are possible today into Saturday.
- Temperatures will remain near to slightly above normal into the upcoming weekend.
- Precipitation chances will increase on Monday as a frontal system moves across the region.
Discussion
Upper ridging will help maintain mostly dry weather conditions across the region into the weekend along with seasonable to slightly above normal temperatures. L
Meanwhile, as the ridge axis shifts northeast, a new Pacific trough will gain influence late in the weekend into early next week. Southwest flow aloft in advance of the trough with an approaching shortwave will lead to increased rain chances late Sunday as surface low across Wyoming tracks into the Dakotas. These rain chances will continue into the early part of next week with ensemble means around 0.25" QPF.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
NBM was used for this forecast cycle with some blending for precipitation chances today and Saturday.
